A growing group of partners, ambassadors, advisors and friends, are interested in the EcoClipper business. You might be one of them and to keep you updated with information, regarding the latest news, background issues and general cargo sailing ship happenings, which are important for the EcoClipper, I will write at regular intervals an email like this. Somewhere in the future it might become a real newsletter. For now, it will only be sent to the most interested early participants, and will be called the EcoClipper Report.

Last autumn, together with a tight group of friends the decision was made to start a new venture: EcoClipper. Of course this idea did not start in 2017, no it has been an accumulation of boyhood dreams, sailing voyages, special encounters and business experiences, of many people. This idea can be traced back to the eighties of last century. Who knows even further. And as mentioned, it is not owned by me, it is a shared vision of many.

For me, I feel especially that operating Tres Hombres and later Nordlys for the past ten years, have helped us to gain the necessary knowledge, for setting up a company with such huge goals, as: Taking the lead in connecting the worlds continents and local economies, with a mode of transport which is ethical, sustainable and profitable. And do this by designing, enabling investment in, and launching a fleet of zero emission and beautifuly lined sailing cargo clippers.

To make this mission a practical reality we needed to start with visualising a framework of company values. You see them presented below.

1.

We believe that the only right way to transport goods, or travel over long distances is by way of the traditional sailing vessel.

2.

We believe these sailing vessels ought to be rigged low-tech, because, in circumstances of high stress, adverse weather conditions, and the maritime environment, simplicity has proved stronger, more durable, and more sustainable than complex high-tech systems.

3.

We believe in creating one multi purpose design of ship, and tweak this to develop it for different markets and trading areas.

4.

We believe in the pure sailing vessel, without installing mechanical propulsion systems, in our ships. This will safeguard maximum sustainability of the process, and the highest standards of seamanship of our crews and organisation.

5.

We strive for becoming and staying the most sustainable transport company in all different aspects and operational processes of  the organisation.

By keeping these values as non negotiable standards, we believe our company will set an example of revolutionary change in the global economy, or even a standard forchanging our future culture.

We have now, reached the stage where the deeds of the EcoClipper company have officially been signed. The EcoClipper business plan is almost finalised, an operational plan is being worked on, the work on the brand design has started, the technical work on the design of our first prototype EcoClipper will soon be continued, a website will be launched. All of this will be done, by a growing group of partners, advisers and ambassadors, only with them (really you!) this task is possible. As the work continues behind the scenes, I will keep you updated, and will ask you to join in, when your knowledge, experience, skills or resources become needed.
